Saturn Returning
They're baaaaack. The evidence started piling up a few days ago, but denial was possible - until yesterday. The first clues were the brassy, bossy voice of one young male. Sounded familiar. Next up was the reaction of our usually sedate and exquisitely polite Ms Kitty. She was lying sunning herself on the headboard of my bed, lazily watching the antics of the critters outside in the backyard. All of a sudden there was that warning howl and hissing emanating from her erst-while pleasant self. Back arched, hair a-tip she could have made the perfect stencil for a Hallowe'en cat. The other four felines converged slinking toward said window, all huffing threateningly as they approached, low growls emanating from them all. Oh my. Even though they weren't focussed on me, that can still be very intimidating to witness. When that thin social veneer slides off and the feral cat emerges. I didn't see what had triggered Ms Kitty's regression at that point, but surmised that it must be one of the local cats that she despises. There are a number of outdoor cats who regularly use our backyard as a transportation corridor you see, and who will come to the back door for a visit, but then there are those who are deemed forbidden and elicit that response. Hmmm.

Next up, I had decided to try and finish up the raking and bagging of leaves in the front yard. Slipped out the front door after making certain there was a lot of food and water available for my cats, so they wouldn't have another howl fest while I was outside. As I opened my front door, a flash of black fur sped by me. The big black cat that belonged to the neighbours who had made such a big production out of moving out of that west unit next to us at the beginning of October. He hadn't been visible between then and today, so I felt comfortable that the family had taken him with them. That did explain Ms Kitty's response though. She thoroughly disliked his claim of our yard for his outside territory. I felt badly for him thinking he had been abandoned - just before winter set in too. Started raking filling up one bag, when the door to the unit to the west of me opened. As you've probably already guessed, dear diary, out walked the old, bad male neighbour scolding and chivvying two of his daughters, while an elderly woman, bent with age, stood staring into their mailbox, then peeking into their house. The girls were arguing with their Dad about what they had to wear, it seems. Dad played right into their little hands by doing the "I'm the man" routine. Whatever. I somehow got the impression that he was playing to his intended audience - me. Continued raking and ignored them all, as though I hadn't heard anything. Not hard to do when one is bent over trying to chivvy leaves and other detrita into a rather floppy plastic bag that resembles a skull when filled. I realized it explained the cigarette smoke coming from their side of the house the past couple of days, whenever I started to rake. That had always been one of that male's ways of trying to intimidate me in the past - stand and watch me as he smoked, anytime I worked outside. I had thought I was going crazy, smelling stuff that I thought shouldn't be there anymore. Left in the middle of the latest performance when I ran out of bags again.

My youngest arrived home a few hours later obviously very pleased with the way his day went. Don't know what it is that is making him so happy, but if it's work related all the better. He was feeling better by far healthwise as well. Acknowledged he suspected that the old neighbours hadn't moved at all, but couldn't account for the fact that they hid themselves from view for the past few weeks. We've always known that there were several groups camping out there, but we never know from one day to the next who might be inside. It is a very disturbing way to live - especially given the past behaviour of that one male. Sigh. Whoever had moved out had crammed two big trucks worth of belongings into a very small space indeed. Brand new and very expensive trucks have taken the place of the older vehicles, indicating that someone else has moved inside. The old neighbours before this one used to have new expensive vehicles outside their home on a regular basis. The neighbours and I used to speculate about where the cash - or credit - had come from, since it wasn't from their own income. Now this. Same group, different faces is all, I guess.

Might have triggered the dream I had last night - the events of the day that is. I found myself in a cellar or basement looking for old treasures of my ex. It seemed his mother had hidden them from him, buried under more junk than one would have thought could possibly be stored in such a small space. Maybe it only seemed small because there was so much of it hidden down in the depths. I don't know why it had become my responsibility to dredge it up, but there seemed to be a release for me too by bringing all his old hidden treasure to light. I could hear his mother screaming with rage each time something else emerged to be reclaimed by him. Maybe it had something to do with the return to direct motion of the astrological asteroid Chiron - the wounded healer. Chiron could heal all that came to him for help but only not himself, the victim of a poisoned arrow. That's how I felt. I also didn't want anything more to do with my ex. My healing has to do with severing that tie completely, thank you very much.

Woke up and headed off to the drug store to buy toilet paper and more leaf bags this morning. Some things one can't leave for later - pun, sort of, intended. A grey squirrel escorted me down the entire length of the street, chittering away, as he danced around on his side of the sidewalk. Noticed a couple of neighbours had adopted my practice of using stencilled leaf bags to decorate for Hallowe'en too - they hadn't been on those properties the last time I walked by. A couple of neighbours along the way making a point of coming to say hello as I walked by. Just pleasant after yesterday's angst. On the theme of Chiron, I found that the magnesium and sulphate that I had read about yesterday were on sale for very deep discounts, so took it as a sign that I should experiment with the new knowledge gleaned from yesterday's e-zines. Can't hurt can it? Chiron is in my astrological sign right now, after all.

Anyway I can hear the old neighbour at the side of the house - better go check to see what it is they are doing this time. Talk with you later, dear diary.
