As you can guess, dear diary, last night's bit of news about the blast in Afghanistan caused a flurry of communication among the older members of our extended family. A couple of emails from my cousin's uncle in Australia. Like me, he felt that what she had been told didn't quite add up - injuries vs prognosis. Emailed the one aunt and uncle in town, because their daughter had been posted to Thailand by the Canadian government. We had been communicating earlier about some election work, so my aunt had already let me know that her daughter and husband were in Ottawa. Good thing or the news about the coup d'etat in Thailand this morning would really have upset me. Not a good time to find oneself a stranger in a strange land. Best that can happen is that one is quickly escorted out of the country. It does explain the news stories about the 40 teachers who have been hunted down and killed there recently. Independent journalists, judges, teachers and post secondary students, as well as medical personnel are usually the first targets for elimination during the takeover of a repressive regime. That pattern of behaviour is clearly outlined in any annual report one chooses that Amnesty International submits to the United Nations about human rights abuses, the use of torture and genocide around the world. Talked with my Dad a bit and filled him in on all the email too.

I think I am going to crawl into bed though right now. There is a feeling of some electrical energy in the air that is making me feel a bit disoriented and jumpy. Could just be the solar eclipse vibes coming up for Friday. Or not. Just too much energy moving through the room to deal with. I'll tell you about all the synchronicities today and the discussions with my sons and the Egypt essay posted on one of the Harry Potter fan sites tomorrow when I can think straight.

Good night dear diary.
