Let it Rain
Another falling down rain day dear diary. The grass outside is probably knee high right now, but I need to wait until it dries a bit before I cut it. My lawn mower was stolen last year as you recall, dear diary, but my Dad offered to bring his over. City bylaws now state that any grass growing over 6" is against the law; yet lawn care specialists in our city have been quoted in the newspaper as saying that grass should be cut no lower than 4" high. I don't have the time or inclination to wander about in my yard on my hands and knees with a ruler checking for that one inch variance, thank you very much. Wonder what happened to all the wild grass their parks department planted in different urban areas about a decade ago when that was the in fad. The normal height for those species was 3 to 4 feet. They had wanted our park development committee to approve that for our new park. We just pointed to all the open prairie around us and asked them if they truly believed we would have fund raised $800,000+ to create a park if all we wanted was prairie grass. Duh.

Late last night - after writing to you - I watched another of the Code Green shows. The one where 12 Canadian households retrofit their homes for energy savings with $15,000 that they are given. The grand prize for the most efficient retrofit is a hybrid car. I really should sit there with a keyboard in front of me so that I can remember all the great ideas. Three more shows to go before the finale. Maybe by then I can start moving on my plans. Measure twice, cut once as they say.

The other special I watched last night after the home show was of a CBC journalist and Bob Geldof reminiscing about some of their joint experiences over the years. Some of the songs posted here because I always hear that call when I listen to them. Yes, I did cry when I heard Phil's songs. Just hormones. I guess that I should be grateful for that too, eh? That's really all I've got to say for myself tonight, dear diary. I have a lot to do tomorrow so I'd better get some sleep. Good Night
