Working
def.: Virga; not to be confused with viagra, Virgo or virgin; a term describing a certain type of snow. It falls in flakes but melts as it nears the ground becoming rain water. That' what the weather was like all morning. From the window at work it looked as though there could be significant drifting on the ground, yet at lunch there was nothing but the clean scent of rain washed streets.

I did go into work this morning although I admit it really took a lot to leave the house. The neighbour I travel with must have received new perfume for Mother's Day. It is one I am allergic to so I struggled to breath all the way downtown - still if I had had to try buusing it I wouldn't have made it as far as the train station. I am grateful for the chance to commute by car although some days I think I would fare better physically if I got more exercise from climbing the stairs and doing the walking associated with the bus routes.

Found I was a bit disoriented when I got on my floor. There was a new work area built in plus three workstations. Hard to know where I was placed. Decided to just get my contact lenses in and my hair tied back, so I felt more centered. By the time I emerged from the powder room one of the regulars was in and showed me my new setup. Very nice. Adjustable desk so my arms don't get strained situated by the window so I get natural light instead of the flourescent type that triggers migraines for me. The barrier that was built contains my wrkstation and one of the other new people and it is high enough that we have a lot of privacy. Given that we are located right by the main lobby that is a good thing. Grabbed my coffee cup and the old mouldy cheese I had left in my desk two weeks ago and headed for the coffee station. Everyone was very kind about my absence, just asking how I was. I was still feeling a bit disoriented, my voice is still barely there, and my breathing wasn't back to normal so I likely sounded as odd as I felt.

Powered up the PC and checked for critical email. Uh huh. Sent several responses then tackled the biggest problem. There has been a lot of passive sabotage where the dance studio's contribution to play day is concerned. Ther registration for it was posted last week while I was away and it was the one thing I couldn't open from my home PC. When I checked it the description was simply "dance lessons" no mention of the several types of dance available, no mention of the travel language courses, the wine appreciation course or the cigar making session. Even though I sent the program to the chair several times with an extended discussion of the choices and the capacity of the program she had limited registration so that it wouldn't be a viable undertaking financially for the studio. Sent an email requesting that the errors be fixed. No response a couple of hours later meant a phone call leaving a voicemail reminding the chair of the terms of the contract she had signed and the penalty clause for breach.

That didn't end the legal issues either. The other new person in my work area is having anew home built and her lawyer failed to follow through with some critical documents. Most people are pretty leery about taking on lawyers but they provide a service just like every other business. They have regulatory and statutory obligations that they are bound by and as long as one knows the process it is possible to get a recalcitrant lawyer, such as the one she was dealing with, to meet their requirements. The one thing I hesitate doing though is offering too much advice either in this case or in the case of the other person who was asking for guidance on a medical issue. I'll glady provide the links and resources I know are available but anything where choice is involved has to be their call. Often people feel they are communicating all the details of their issue with out realizing they are speaking in shorthand based on their own experiences. Adding one's own take on an issue can get you in a lot of hot water. Better off letting them write dear Abby or one of the clone columns if they can't make up their minds. In this case it didn't matter because she took full control of the situation once she knew of her options.

By noon my lungs were completely cramped up partly because I just can't sit for that long yet and partially because if the other issues that arose. The studio ower popped by at 11 and I gave him his paperwork and the cheque that had been waiting for him so he could get his arrangements in place. I explained what was going on and then emailed hime the "conversation" betwenn myself and the chair so he could address her directly. I don't want to be put in the middle when I'm struggling just to stay present. I had called my chiropractor's office and they had fit me in the noon hour so I stopped there before catching the train home. I was wondering if some of the pain I was experiencing was from the bout of coughing and spasms I had had the past two weeks. I have felt much better since so I guess the answer is yes. He said one of the other doctors had the same thing and one of the other partners young daughter was also very ill with it. I explained that I had been on antibiotics for over a week and wasn't contagious any more and that seem to relax him a bit. I wouldn't have gone to see him if I thought otherwise.

At home just rested and watched the news because of a vote in parliament today. Procedural manoueverings and brinksmanship. Hopefully that doesn't tip us in to an election for at least another couple of weeks. I need more recuperation time. Bed now I think.
