time out
I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things and came back with the flu. Shared it with my youngest and one of the cats. Uh huh. So I guess that means not much to say.

The provincial leader - our Premier - dropped the writ on Monday so it means that the election for that will be on November 22. Apparently not all the Returning Offices are open yet and I can empathize with that knowing how landlords behave the first day of the event. However, one of the offices didn't open because the person being investigated for voter fraud in the municipal election last week was the Returning Officer there until she resigned when she won. The complaint of the candidates is that they can't get their documents that allow them to do things like - oh raise funds for their campaigns. That favours the incumbent party because they all have them by now. With a 28 day campaign and some offices saying they won't open until the weekend, that cuts the opponents off of 25% of the campaign period. Yes they can go door to door and that sort of thing, but any money they spend before then has to come out of their own pockets. Federally, all those forms are on line and we are expected to be available to candidates for at least a month before the writ is dropped. We are supplied with all the hard copy documents as well and heaven help us if one of the candidates can't reach us. We are also expected to vet each one through with equal attention and ensure that they have every chance of getting the best run for their money out of the campaign. It is called a level playing field. Well it isn't really because independents and regional groups are seriously handicapped by certain sections of the Elections Act but at least candidates are all treated equally by those of us at the front lines.

This was the story astronomically - major sunspots and the eclipse tomorrow Sun_Moon and a galctic puzzle Dark_matter. This was the story in Australia with troops being used as guinea pigs for a new drug to protect them that did much the same thing as the drug in the movie "Jacob's Ladder" psychosis. Fine way to treat people risking their lives for their country. Just another day in the "big" city I guess.
