Circuses
Sometimes it's like a circus without a ringmaster or a trainer in the kittens' nursery. They'll run in unison in a tight, but ever changing symmetry of circles. They'll climb on each others' rumps or backs to attain access to a height none of them can reach on their own - the next level on the book shelf. One will learn a new skill, then demonstrate it over and over with the others imitating the movements, until they all have it down pat.

What I saw tonight wasn't a collective effort though. One little guy, Badge - because his face has the markings of a badger, was trying to climb over the barrier between his room and the hallway;we had to unblock the hallway so I could walk through - gibbled as I am. He was leaping as high as he could, but was just missing his grip. He was getting frustrated so he backed up a length or two then took a run at it. His brother was sitting in front of the barrier facing front. Badge deliberately used his brother's head as a launch pad and ended up sailing over into the hallway. His mother was not amused. His siblings however, followed suit with quite a lot of enthusiasm.

Cheshire Cat is probably one of the smarter babies but she's also the biggest scaredy cat there is. Once she found herself outside and up on the couch she started yowling piteously. She has been mom's favorite from the beginning so there was an immediate maternal response. Problem is that Cheshire Cat is too big for Mom to pick up and carry any more. A lot of vocalization followed - mom "talks" to her babies constantly - and we were thoroughly told off. We all know who the boss is around here. Uh huh.

Got up this morning - no spasm, but still pretty sore and a beautiful big bruise to prove it. Worked around the house for a few hours then laid down to read. Woke up feeling blissful. No pain, just a bit of throbbing and a fleeting memory of a dream of sweet seduction. Very rare.

Big local news today was a travel ban put in place by British Columbia's government. Extreme winds and temperatures have left two major centers just hours from going up in flames. No one is allowed in the back country in the southern 2/3's of the province. A state of emergency was declared with that announcement. The smoke from those fires is also blowing into the city. Open the windows and breathing becomes quite a challenge. Rain forecasted coming up in a couple of days for both provinces. Can't come too soon.

Biggest tempest in a teapot? About a month ago a university student threw a pie at our Premier(Governor) - it hit him in the face. He and two of his friends were charged with criminal assault. Charges were dropped against his two buddies today. Now the political party that this Premier belongs too has at least two conventions per year. There are always sessions where the delegates "play" with each other. Reports from reporters invited in the past have noted that pie throwing has been part of the antics on more than one accasion. I guess one has to purchase a party membership and pony up the convention fees first to be exempted from a criminal record.
