12:56 a.m. - 2003-05-23 There was an article in the newspaper today about the fact that pet food is actually making pets ill. A number of vets are seeing the effects in their offices. They are treating a lot of liver and kidney complaints, as well as damage to the heart and obesity problems. Apparently there is no restriction on what passes for meat, so some manufacturers are purchasing the carcasses of euthanized pets. The list of chemicals causing damage is also disturbing because they are also used in preparing most processed foods for human consumption. The preservatives BHA and BHT are among those cited for causing obesity, liver and kidney damage, for example. Hmmmm. We've always fed Miss Kitty tuna, guess that was a good choice. Read some of Ovid's work today. His writing around seduction was pretty close to a manual - pretty dry. I think I'll delve into some of Rumi's writing. It is closer to the Song of Solomon in it's presentation and intent but the imagery is much more passionate and emotive. I read the book called "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" and it was very well written - I learned a great deal from it - but Sex and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (possible subtitle for Ovid's writing) just doesn't cut it. Not much else to say tonight, time for bed. |
