3:12 a.m. - 2003-05-17 A lot of discussion about their "childhood" because my second son's fiance was present too wanting to know more about family dynamics. Started off with commentary about their diets when they were small. Suppers like the one listed above were rare - high fat or junk food didn't hit the table except for special occasions. Discussions about how they spent their days together. Playing cards, visiting family, watching movies, hanging out with friends, that sort of thing. Just telling funny stories about what they remember. Low key but enjoyable evening. Number four son just took off with one of his buddies to go camping too. Personally, rushing off with most of the rest of the citizens of this city "to get away from it all" doesn't appeal. Some of the campgrounds are more densely packed than even the most populated corners of the city. Time in the wilderness it's not. Time partying is more the theme and that really doesn't appeal much to me. While I was picking up the essentials at the grocery store today, I watched campers digging through the freezers looking for that perfect steak or what have you. Appeared to me that the prices had nearly doubled on all the items traditionally eaten while camping. Could just be me though. Anyway it's been a good day but also a long one. Time for bed. |
