Went to my chiropractor at lunch, felt much better for it. He isn't going to Guatemala this year because the sponsoring missionaries are on sabbatical for most of the year. He can't fit the trip into their schedule. That's why he has been focussing on the new skills development, I think. Doing the community development work is really important, but it devours huge amounts of time, resources, and energy. A change is probably a good thing, especially given global conditions at this point in time.

I told him about the Elections Canada assignment and what I think the reasoning is behind the preparations. What most Canadians don't realize is how much support the Canadian government is supplying to the US behind the scenes. Our ships are patrolling the Gulf. For the past four months the government has also been aggressively recruiting people with expertise in all forms of warfare - chemical, biological, engineering, medical, and logistical specialists. From the sound of the postings a lot of things are already in motion. I was letting him know, because a lot of the jobs being filled now are for medical personnel to administer domestic programs. I haven't passed any posts on to people who have the skills when the position was to be used for direct assaults on other populations, but doing as much as possible to protect people here is important. Humanitarian aid is already being organized, but of course, there is no way to deliver it yet.

On my way back to the office I bumped into one of the key organizers for one of the political parties. We have a good working relationship. We discussed a couple of issues briefly. He was very happy about the polling map revamps I was able to make. I've e-mailed the specs I need for the office to a realtor, who responded to my requests for assistance a couple of weeks ago, now that Elections Canada has confirmed what they require. Hopefully that task can be completed soon.

Work is still tense and behaviours haven't changed appreciably. I just keep my diskman turned up. Did find some documentation that pleased T2 - revenue property not listed in the assets of the company. I've been finding similar things on a weekly basis and reporting it. Nice that it is finally being heard. I was directed to work with a couple of other specialists in the company. I love e-mail for a lot of reasons but I must admit that I would like to meet people I am to work with at least once face to face. Some things should only be said or done in person.

Stopped in at my doctor's on the way home to get my prescription refilled. The clinic looks great and seems to be functioning well. The reception team could use some work but I know what it's like behind the scenes when a new office is being set up. The niceties come with time. That being said, I was ushered into a room almost immediately after I registered. There is a very dangerous strain of pneumonia going around right now and several Canadians who had been travelling in China have died or been very ill. Because of the asthma thing, I guess I'm considered at risk. Whatever. When, my guys were small I never succumbed to illness, because I was too busy. The mind is a powerful tool and I suspect, given conditions right now, it's protective influence will kick in again.
